Getting into Laos is easier than ever and travelers from many countries can get 30-day tourist visas at most border points
Most visitors to Laos need a visa to enter the country (except the citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements )

Three are 2 way to apply for a visa to Laos :

- I : Visa on arrival ( obtain your entry visa at international checkpoints )

- II : Visa approval ( obtain your entry visa before departure by applying to the Lao Embassies/ Consulates in your country )

Some advices for Visa to Laos:

- To obtain your entry visa before departure by applying to the Lao Embassies/ Consulates is not hard and expensive but take time up to two months.
- Recommendation: " Visa on arrival " is best choice, do not take your time and looking for information about visa anymore, saving your time to make preparations other things for travel

- It is easy to get " Visa on arrival " obtain your entry visa by yourself

+ To process the " Visa on Arrival" you need:
- 2 photos of passport regulation size (2in x 2in, or 5.08 cm x 5.08 cm)
- Passport. (valid at least 06 months)
- Cash : from US$ 25 to US$ 60 for Visa Stamping Fees

 

VISA EXTENSIONS

Getting an extension on a tourist visa is easy. Go to the Immigration Office in the Ministry of Public Security building opposite Talat Sao in Vientiane, fill out a form, supply your passport, a photo and pay US$2 per day for the extra time you want. The whole process can be completed in one hour.

OVERSTAYING YOUR VISA

Overstaying your visa is not seen as a major crime but it is expensive. You'll have to pay a fine of US$10 for each day you've overstayed at the immigration checkpoint when you leave. Simple as that
