Getting into Laos is easier than ever and travelers from many countries can get 30-day tourist visas at most border points
Most visitors to Laos need a visa to enter the country (except the citizens holding valid diplomatic passports are exempt from visa requirements )

VISA EXTENSIONS
Getting an extension on a tourist visa is easy. Go to the Immigration Office in the Ministry of Public Security building opposite Talat Sao in Vientiane, fill out a form, supply your passport, a photo and pay US$2 per day for the extra time you want. The whole process can be completed in one hour.
OVERSTAYING YOUR VISA
Overstaying your visa is not seen as a major crime but it is expensive. You'll have to pay a fine of US$10 for each day you've overstayed at the immigration checkpoint when you leave. Simple as that
